EVOLUTION

"Just because I had written the story once didn’t mean there was nothing else to say. I had more to say, in new ways."

"You have changed and therefore your relationship to that subject has changed."

what it is

this project was intended to be a personal essay detailing the evolution i have gone through as a writer, as my minor in writing and undergrad years come to a close.

inspiration

when thinking about my evolution as a writer, i couldn't help but also think about how this related to the emotional evolution i've gone through in college in general. as to be expected, i feel like a very different person than the person i was when i arrived at the university four years ago. this personal development lead to the evolution of my writing because my thinking became more sophisticated and clear. when looking back at artifacts from the last four years, i realized the trend in topics: my scoliosis surgery and its aftermath. this topic had been approached many times and it was not until i read them all back to back that i discovered how much i, and my writing, had changed.
